Jan 5 1919 The Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei is founded by Anton Drexler and others at the Furstenfelder Hof tavern in Munich. So much of early Nazi history seems to center around beer halls and homosexuals.
Jan 5 1967 Two buses of pilgrims collide south of Manila, Philippines,
killing 83 in the worst traffic accident thus far.
Jan 5 1981 The Yorkshire Ripper, murderer of 13 women, is arrested. Peter Sutcliffe concentrated mostly on hookers, but still managed to terrorize mainstream England in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
Jan 5 1995 Connie Chung broadcasts Kathleen Gingrich's opinion of Hillary Clinton:
bitch. We suspect it's merely a case of the pot calling the kettle
black, and you can include Connie Chung in that.
Jan 5 1996
In Gaza, Israeli intelligence agents blow off the head of terrorist

"Love the site guys, Daily Rotten is my homepage, I always check this for my news first. I also have to say that I've been enjoying rotten.com for years, and it has prepared me well for what I see as a paramedic. Thanks a ton, and keep up the great (but morbid) work!"
"I like your news page. I can now pretend to be hitting this site for the
information and not to rubberneck at other people's gruesome misfortunes.
Just like my husband reads Playboy for the articles."
"God, Liberals can't even keep their sorry-assed bias out Rotten.Com?
I was hoping to find a truly unbiased source for... god ... anything!
Liberal filth has even found its way even here..."
"I like the new News format and the slow emergence of an actual
conservative viewpoint however twisted....the good intentions of liberalism
have enslaved millions but have now outright killed thousands."
"I used to read slashdot, but you guys are much more entertaining. Plus I
get the bonus of ya'all not being 'linux fags'. Keep it up."
"You are doing an excellent job. I work at a news agency in Greece,
and when looking for international news, we often look for stories in
your site. I must admit I only used to come here to see pieces of
dead people or animals and people fucking, but the news section is
an excellent hub for weird and disturbing information."
"The difficulty in determining what are legitimate Internet news sites and
which online publishers do not have sufficiently high journalistic standards
to qualify will doom ICRA, civil libertarians predict. After all, even
rotten.com now features a news section, though the headlines do tend
to run along the lines of Postal worker jailed for flinging feces.

Viewership
On the first full day this page went live, 100,000 people visited this Rotten
News page. Of course that was the day after the WTC attacks, so that number is
somewhat distorted. Right now this page gets between 50,000 and 75,000 people
every day. First story posted on November 22, 1999.
